The Kindle Chronicles Friday Podcast - catching up

Since I am behind and catching up with a favorite Kindle website, The Kindle Chronicles (TKC) Friday podcast, I thought I'd pass along what I'm enjoying, realizing that many newcomers to the Kindle (and even some oldtimers) don't know about this very informative and entertaining Web feature.

These are programs that can be listened to when there or downloaded for listening on your mp3 player while reading the weekly TKC features that include Kindle (and iPad) news, Tech Tips, Kindle Content, Comments from listeners, and above all the unique audio interviews that Len Edgerly does with those in the Kindle and e-reader universe.

Here are the interview subjects from the last four weeks along with Len's interview descriptions for them:

'Jay Marine
, Amazon’s Director of Product Management for the Kindle, spoke with me from Seattle on Tuesday, May 11. His job in such conversations is to avoid any predictions of future products or enhancements, and let’s just say he’s good at his job. But if you listen between the lines, you’ll hear encouraging passion regarding Amazon’s commitment to keep those Kindle innovations coming.'

'Mike Elgan
, Silicon Valley-based columnist, writer, speaker and blogger, this week published a ComputerWorld column titled “Why iPad Owners Need a Kindle, Too.”  In our conversation on May 18th, he provided background to his list of 13 reasons why he thinks every iPad owner who loves books and reading also needs a Kindle.'

'J. A. Konrath’s AmazonEncore deal has everyone in publishing talking, it seems.  In a Skype interview on May 26 linking us in Denver and Chicago, Joe told the back story and details of the deal, in which Amazon will release the Kindle version of the seventh book in his Jack Daniels police mystery series, Shaken, on October 26, 2010, to be followed on February 22, 2011, by the paperback edition.  Click here for a free sample of Shaken and click here for a Digital Book World Roundtable discussion of Konrath’s accomplishment.'

'James McQuivey
in a conversation recorded on June 1, 2010, explains why he’s worried Amazon may be about to miss a once-in-a-lifetime shot, if they don’t come up with an iPad killer.  James is vice president and principal analyst at Forrester Research.'

  1. I couldn't agree with you more on Len's excellent weekly show. He does a fine news summary, useful tech tips, and terrific interviews. Also, his show-notes pages are a lesson on how to do them right (and he really takes the time to make them right!).

You should also point out to people his other podcast, thereadingedge.com, which features interviews (and videos) on other ereaders and ebook topics.

I think it is time for you to be re-interviewd by Len, Adrys.

  2. Anonymous/Rick,
Your post apparently was done in the middle of Blogger.com's 8 hours of down-time for blogger-editing and comments-area posting and may have been lost in the server area.

I have an alert on it in email and if this note doesn't push your posting out of whatever pipe it is stuck in (my dashboard says it -was- 'published'), I'll post it as a quoted note.

  3. WELL, that worked to push it out. That has happened before, and it's very frustratng.

I may add TheReadingEdge info at the end but I have received dismay at Twitter, in email, and on this blog, that I mention other e-readers and the iPad too much :-)

If I don't add it, they can find it easily enough on TheKindleChronicles page. I did highlight it at my slow-going ereaderworld blog.

I will start updating the latter with mainly ultra-brief summary links to stories that interested me most, rather than wordy summaries, so that I can at least get up what struck me as unusually interesting.

  4. Rick,
I forgot to say that I don't like doing interviews, not my thing, and have tried to stay away from them.

  5. Note on July 21, 2010
Rick's note described earlier here did show up after a glitch delayed it but tonight it's not showing up and Blogger.com just re-released it so I will approve it again for posting and it should show up in the original spot.

NOTE: TO AVOID SPAM being posted instantly, this blog uses the blogger.com "DELAY" feature.

Am often away much of the day, and postings won't show up right away. Posts done to use referrer-links may never show up.

Usually, am online enough to release comments within a day though, so the hard-to-read match-text tests for commenting won't be needed this way.

Feedback and questions are welcome. Thanks for participating.

Technical Problems?
If you're having problems leaving a Comment, Google's blogger-help asks that you clear the 'blogger.com' cookies on your browser's Tools or Options menu bar and that will fix the Comment-box problems (until they have a permanent fix).

IF that doesn't work either, then UNcheck the "keep me signed in" box -- Google-help says that should allow your comment to post (it's a workaround to a current bug).
Apologies for the problems.

TIP: There's a size limit. If longer than 3500 characters or so, in a text editor, make two posts out of it.
